Charlie Suor
Board Member
Charles “Charlie” Suor is a writer and cultural studies scholar. He specializes in gender, horror & cult film, and rock & alternative music like metal, punk, and emo. He earned a master’s degree in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies from the University of South Florida.
Committed to preserving overlooked cultural histories and accessibility outside of academia, Charlie writes both scholarly and popular works. He also hosts the film review Instagram reel-series, Cinema Crypt, and produces the zine, Transylvanian Horror.
A dedicated leader and advocate, Charlie previously served as the president of the University of South Florida’s Trans+ Student Union. He remains involved in the local community, supporting local art events, markets, DIY shows, and spaces that center queer and trans voices.
Charlie’s involvement with TIGLFF began as an audience member then developed into being interviewed as part of the 2023 Tampa Bay Transgender Film Festival documentary, You’re Loved. In 2024, Charlie became a member of the volunteer screening committee. In 2026, he joined the board of directors and became co-chair of TIGLFF Trans Pride. Through his work at TIGLFF, Charlie brings a love of the queer, the cult, the camp, and the downright weird to the festival’s evolving vision.
