Sungbin Byun, 2022, South Korea, 114 min.
Myung is a transgender woman who cut ties with her family and hometown because she needs to live authentically. Now, all she wants is gender affirmation surgery, but the only way to earn money is by winning the Waacking dance competition, which was a disaster. One day, she receives a call that her father has passed away. Myung learns that her father left a will stating that he will give her an inheritance if she performs the special Drum Dance during his memorial ritual. With no choice left, Myung goes back to her hometown to perform according to her father’s will. But her homecoming is fraught, and she discovers more than she bargains for in this singular cinematic work from first time director Sungbin Byun.
