Kill the Monsters
Ryan Lonergan, 2018, USA, 77 min
Three hunky men in a polyamorous relationship – Frankie (the young one), Patrick (the practical one), and Sutton (the hot, impulsive one) – travel across the country to start a new life. One of the most unique films of the festival, the story is about the “democracy” of a triad and the men’s belief that, no matter what, this is the best and only way to have a successful relationship. The not so subtle allegorical connections to US politics are cheeky, for sure. The political statements are poignant and thoughtful. But just as enjoyable is the stunning cinematography in this steamy and engaging story that is equal parts romantic comedy/allegory/road trip as three men in love travel west and have a sexy good time doing it.
